Okay - I usually keep my opinions, especially when they are controversial, to myself but I want to say this. Don't you think there are better causes to support than finding a cure for HIV and AIDS?
As a heterosexual female...No, I can't say there are far too many causes that surpass this physiolocial human catastrophe more than HIV or AIDS. You forget, this is an illness that befalls heterosexual IV drug users, their quiet children and besets unquantifiable hurt and pain for those surrounding those inflicted. These can EASILY be your neices, nephews, sisters, brothers, grandchildren...Who in the FUCK do you think you are that you are immuned?
HIV and AIDS is preventable!
So is Chlamidea, Syphillis and a THOUSAND other sexually transmitted diseases...Are you Pissed OFF that this is a "GAY DISEASE" cuz guess what, Tootsie-Roll...people have been dying of STD's since the day of the flood!
People can protect themselves from getting AIDS!
Yes, for the most-part they can and who better knows this than the gay community. Let me ask you? Have you ever actually seen ANYONE who has succumed to AIDS...has it been your best friend, your neighbor, a parent. How divinely right you are to judge because, "GOD" Knows, at the end of the day, Jesus was a healer and didn't beget the lepers or those otherwise 'smited!'
Granted, I know many people have suffered from this disease as a result of a blood transfusion or just by being born which they had no choice in. I have sympathy for them. However, I believe in finding cures for diseases which are incurable or UNPREVENTABLE such as cancer and diabetes (and others)!
Remarkable? UNPREVENTABLE like "tolerance" Oh, but you asked about cancer and diabetes..that's funny...90% of diabetes can be controlled with diet and excercise...have you told your friends about that? As far as cancer... No one has a definitive answer, especially when you blanket-it as a whole...what cancer are you talking about..testicular, ovarian? Lung? Brain? Stomache?
